This morning as I walked by the river, I was reminded of its varied movement and beauty that changes with the weather. Throughout all seasons, the theme scripture of my website and coaching practice (from Psalm 36) continues to fill me. I quote it each day as I walk, but the main verse in focus today is, “You give drink from your river of delights. With you is the fountain of life.” No matter the storms, the sun, the wind, or the rain, He, as my fountain of life, gives me drink from his river of delights. It’s been a delightful summer with highlights including a biblical tour in Antioch and Cypress, a new canine addition (meet Tessie, a crazy answered prayer that I share about in my new book), and a new book release coming tomorrow. 
While I’ve been busy writing books, I’ve been neglecting my blog. So first, I want to express my gratitude for the many kind words you have shared concerning my last book, “Re-Examining Our Lenses.” The research for writing that book helped me put together pieces from the Scriptures and my background that brought me greater understanding and meaning, resulting in a richer, deeper relationship with God. I am grateful.
Whenever I write, I intend to share ways my faith grows in hopes it can also benefit others; thus, when I receive comments from you that express such it brings me great encouragement. With this in mind, I am thrilled to introduce you to my newest release (August 13), “Jesus The Master Teacher: Transforming Our Hearts.” August 13 is my late husband’s birthday, and on each birthday I try to do something special in his honor. This seemed a good day to release this book, as certainly he was a student of Jesus and learned so much from the Master Teacher, as reflected in his teaching. In this book, I explore ways Jesus, through his example, teaches on motivation, our identity, philosophy of life, deeper connections through seeing and hearing, our relationships, and how to become more like him as we teach. Throughout the book, I ask questions that help us to “pause and consider,” rather than just soldiering through the words. Several of you who responded to my requests for comments on what makes a great teacher might find your quote at the beginning of a chapter. I hope you get as much out of reading it as I did in writing it. I officially release it at 12:01 am EST on Aug 13. The Kindle version should also be available.

Every once in a while, I read a book that is truly life-changing. Jeanie’s book is one such book. I highlighted almost the whole book. Scales fell from my eyes and things made sense that never made sense before. I have been a Christian for over 40 years, and a leader for most of that time, and I wish I had read this book 40 years ago!… Reading her words, the puzzle came together. So many things that did not make sense suddenly did. Jeanie comes from many generations of CoC preachers and elders, so her perspective is invaluable.
“Re-Examining Our Lenses” challenges its readers to rethink their approach to scripture, tradition, and community life. It is a vital read for anyone involved in the Restoration Movement or interested in the broader questions of how we interpret scripture and live out our faith.
You have given me language to long-held frustrations of not having a voice in the sea of questions I have so longed to raise.
Although my view of Christianity developed from a Restoration Movement perspective, I knew very little about it. I’d never heard of pattern hermeneutics or precision obedience; however, those concepts have affected my spiritual formation. This book has helped me re-examine my lenses in a constructive and encouraging way. Thank you, Jeanie. I plan to read the book again.
